Introduction to Nosework

K9 Nose Work® is a fun companionship activity that engages the dog's mind by offering fun scent-detection tasks. Your dog will use their hunting abilities to search high and low for their favorite treat or toy in various environments and elements. These sniffing games will help build your dog's confidence, independence, problem-solving skills and human relationship. 

 

This class is for dogs that have little to no experience with nosework. This 6-week class meets for 1 hour each week. ​

*No Prerequisites required

​*Classes are held in and around the property. Dogs will go one at a time. You can crate in the building or bring a second handler to wait with your dog outside. Some classes are outdoors. Be prepared to crate from your vehicle in all weather conditions. You are signing up at your own risk. Handlers are responsible for ensuring the safety of their dogs.

*All dogs at all life stages allowed

*Dogs must be able to work in a classroom setting with other dogs.

Introduction to Odor

This 6-week class meets for 1 hour each week. This class is a continuation of the Introduction to Nosework course. Dogs will continue to build on their skills while introducing hidden target odors. This class is for dogs that know how to "hunt" out food or toys in a verity of novel spaces. All three odors (Birch, Anise, and Clove) will be introduced. Dogs are imprinted through a method of pairing their favorite treat/toy with the odor.

  • Introducing Birch, Anise, and Clove

  • Making hides and placing them

Be prepared to crate from your vehicle in all weather conditions. You are signing up at your own risk. Handlers are responsible for ensuring the safety of their dogs.

*Dog must be able to be crated in a portable crate during class or worked out of your car.

*Dogs must be able to work in a classroom setting with other dogs.

NW 1 Continuing Nosework

This 6-week class meets for 1 hour each week. This class is a continuation of the Introduction to Odor course. Dogs will continue to build on their skills to sniff out hidden target odors. This class is for dogs that have previously been introduced to all three odors Birch, Anise and Clove. Dogs can still participate if they are pairing treats with odor. Dogs and owners will navigate single hide searches in containers, interiors, exteriors and outside of vehicles. Searches are equivalent to NW1.​

*Classes are held in and around the property. Dogs will go one at a time. You can crate in the building or bring a second handler to wait with your dog outside. Some classes are outdoors. Be prepared to crate from your vehicle in all weather conditions. You are signing up at your own risk. Handlers are responsible for ensuring the safety of their dogs.
*Dog must be able to be crated in a portable crate during class or worked out of your car.

NW2 Continuing Nosework

This 6-week class meets for 1 hour each week. All odors will be used in class. There will be multi-hide searches. This course is for dogs that have high level nosework skills and are ready to be introduced to multiple hides in the search areas. As well as other challenging odor problems. Dogs can still participate if they are pairing treats with odor. Searches are equivalent to NW2 or Excellent Level Searches.

 

*Prerequisites: NW1 Nosework or instructor approval (email us with questions)

*Classes are held in and around the property. Be prepared to crate from your vehicle in all weather conditions. You are signing up at your own risk. Handlers are responsible for ensuring the safety of their dogs.
*Dog must be able to be crated in a portable crate during class or worked out of your car.

 NW3 Continuing Nosework

This 6-week class meets for 1 hour each week. Handlers will learn how to read when their dog has found all of the hides or recognize when there is no odor (Blank spaces). This level is for handlers and dogs that have experience with multiple hide searches in large spaces. You will learn how to overcome distractions in the search area including toys, food, dog accessories and more. These searches will have an unknown number of hides to the handler. Dogs can still participate if they are pairing treats with odor. Searches in this course are equivalent to NW3 or Detective Level. 

 

*Prerequisites: NW2 Nosework or instructor approval

*Classes are held in and around the property. Be prepared to crate from your vehicle in all weather conditions. You are signing up at your own risk. Handlers are responsible for ensuring the safety of their dogs.
*Dog must be able to be crated in a portable crate during class or worked out of your car.
